During 2012 in the city of Melitopol large scale investment projects were implemented and new working places appeared. In his annual report Melitopol Mayor Sergey Valter said: "More than 100000000 UAH were invested in the city of Melitopol in 2012".
Vice Mayor Valery Govorkov gave more detailed information and mentioned some of the projects:
- Opening of the service center of world-known agricultural machinery brands CLAAS and Amazone. John Deere is planning to open one as well. Investments amount - more than 10000000 UAH.
- Opening of cinemas network. A modern 2D cimena in Melitopol is the best in the Zaporozhye region. Opening of 5D cinema and 6D attraction. Investments amount - more than 15000000 UAH.
- Volume of direct capital investments of the main enterprises (reinvestment) was more than 40000000 UAH (Group of Companies "MZTG-Hydrosila" invested about 26000000 UAH). This is an important indicator of a favorable climate for the city development.
- Melitopol Engine Plant has launched a project to produce buses for public transportation. Investments amounted to 2500000 UAH.
- Investments in infrastructure development of the Gorky Park of Culture and Leisure during last 2 years amounted to more than 7000000 UAH (including opening of the cafe "Dubrava")
- Investments in the sphere of entertainment opening of a family center "Roller Center." Investments amount - around 3000000 UAH
- In the near future a new shopping center will bw opened on Pushkin street. Investments amount - 40000000 UAH
- Construction of new high-rise affordable housing. The first house was built on Sverdlov street, second one on Gorky street is still under construction (3 floors are built). Investments amount - about 10000000 UAH
- Number of retail stores "Veteran" and ATB increased, a network of shops "Knitwear" (Melitopol Knitting Factory) and kiosks with Melitopol bread bakery appeared. Investments amount - more than 2000000 UAH.
- The first stage of the project for processing of solid waste (sorting) was launched in 2012. Investments amount - 500 000 UAH.
- Approximately 1700000 UAH of grant funding for non-governmental organizations and the executive committee of the city were recieved.
In conclusion Valery Govorkov said: "In 2013, the work on investment attraction will continue. The project on solid waste processing will develop as well as projects on improving the infrastructure of entertainment facilities. New attractions will appear at the Gorky Park of Culture and Leisure, new productions will be created and new housing will be built. Life in the city will become more affordable and convenient".
