From the 1st to 9th of February 2013 Pavel Timofeev the Chief of the Strategic Development Department of the Executive Committee of the Melitopol City Council as a member of Ukrainian delegation has visited USA within the frames of the "Open World" program. The purpose of the program is experience exchange, training and seminars presenting the work of local authorities in USA.

The program included a meeting with Senator Sherrod Brown who is responsibe for jobs creation and  American economy development. Pavel Timofeev made a short presentation of Melitopol during the meeting with the Senator. Ukrainian delegation visited local authorities of Akron, Ohio. They had a meeting with the Mayor of Akron Donald Plyuskvellik and the Head of the Akron City Council Garry Moneypenny. They presented the principles of work of the Mayor and the City Council.

The visit included meetings with  non-profit organizations aimed at the development of community,  Akron Chamber of Commerce, University of Akron, Akron Institute of Innovations. In the city of Kent in Portage County the delegation met with community leaders, governing bodies and local authorities. 

According to Pavel Timofeev new knowledge will help him in his work at the City Council.  Some of the aspects of American authorities work may be introduced in Melitopol. The visit was financed by the American program "Open World".
