In April 2015 Ukrainian Cities Association and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of partnerships in order to support the implementation in Ukraine of PROMIS project ("Partnership for urban development").
As part of the selection of territorial communities to be applicants to take part in the Project, local authorities, entrepreneurs, academics and community activists met with representatives of PROMIS Project indoors of Melitopol City Council.
Representatives of the Canadian Federation of Municipalities, particularly interested in the implementation of democratic governance and local business development, gender equality questions.
The main expert Igor Lepioshkin briefed on main directions of cooperation in the framework of a Project funded by the Government of Canada and aimed at strengthening municipal sector in Ukraine, the introduction of effective democratic governance and economic development.
Project PROMIS work with 16 the selected partner cities from four regions of Ukraine (Vinnitsa, Zaporizhye, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava region), directly or through the formed partnership association.
Cities selection to be completed in August 2015, and then begin immediate work on the Project PROMIS, which will end in March 2021.
