Mr. Vashchuk met with the Mayor and local authorities to discuss the cooperation within the Project Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance Project (PLEDDG) financed by the Government of Canada. The project aims to strengthen Ukraine�s municipal sector by increasing capacities of Ukrainian cities to advance local democracy and economic development.

In the conference hall of the Executive Committee of the Melitopol City Council Roman Vashchuk met with business representatives and the public. The discussion highlighted the issue of problems of local farmers; machinery building; cooperation between scientists, farmers and the Chamber of Commerce; the development of "green tourism". Canadian Ambassador told about the upcoming economic forum in Toronto (Canada) in late June as part of the Canadian-Ukrainian project to support investments in Ukraine and exports between the two countries and invited businessmen to take part in it.

At the end of the visit, Ambassador and representatives of local authorities met with the director and staff of the City center of social services for families, children and young people. There was  realized the project "Reform of the criminal justice system for minors in Ukraine"  supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , trade and development Canada. During the project component 97 children who find themselves in conflict with the law were covered by a comprehensive social work.
