Since June 2011, Melitopol holds the festival in honor of the famous sweet cherry.

On June 10, citizents and visitors became participants of the 5th Annual Cherry City Festival.

The event started with the fair, where local entrepreneurs offered fruits and sweets, masters presented their handicrafts, master classes were conducted. Then there were  festival costume parade, which participants competed in the contest for the best thematic outfits. The winner of the junior category held   the lottery. 30 lucky winners received gifts, sweets and tickets to amusement park.

Anyone could try freshly made cherry jam with ice cream.

Cultural program has finished with  youth group  �Misto-M� who played covers of famous songs. During instrumental performance of Ukrainian Anthem, inflatable cherries had been run into the sky.
