August 18, 2016 a cooperation Memorandum between Zaporizhia regional state administration, the City Council of Zaporizhia, Melitopol, Berdyansk and the German Federal enterprise Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusammenarbeait (GIZ) GmbH was signed.

The signing of the document was attended by: Wolfgang Moessinger, General Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine; Uwe Stumpf, the Head of infrastructure Initiatives program for Ukraine that is being run by German Federal enterprise GIZ, representatives of the regional Executive Committees; the mayors of Berdyansk and Zaporozhia; first Deputy mayor of Melitopol Irina Rudakova.

Cooperation in the framework of the project "Strengthening of the capacity of Ukrainian territorial communities in the adoption of internally displaced people in Ukraine" will be implemented over the 2016-2019 years. The project consists of components such as "The support of the territorial communities of Ukraine in connection with the increase in the number of internally displaced people" and "Psychosocial support and work with conflicts", which are components of the infrastructure Initiatives program for Ukraine which are carried out with the support of the German Government in achieving its objectives in international cooperation for sustainable development.
