A solemn openning took place on March 20.
In 2016, Zaporizhzhia region was included into an all-Ukrainian pilot project on the introduction of inclusive education, which is a part of the charity Poroshenko Foundation social program. Melitopol became an active participant in the project. |
During this time, 5 inclusive classes in schools and 4 inclusive groups in kindergartens were opened in Melitopol. Another 7 similar classes and 4 groups are scheduled to open this year.
In 2017, in the Melitopol Local Lore Museum the second in Ukraine smart-room was opened in the frame of social project Arsenal of Ideas of Ukraine implemented by the Head of Poroshenko Foundation, the First Lady of Ukraine, Marina Poroshenko and "Mystetkyi Arsenal".
The Inclusive-Resource Center includes: room for physical therapy, a waiting room for parents, a psychologist's office, a defectologist`s office, a speech therapist's office, and a resource room.
There are about 700 children, who have special educational needs and need psychological and pedagogical assistance. Moreover, the Center will work with children from nearby cities and villages. In particular, one agreement on cooperation with nearby united community has already been signed.
